We do not employ independent contractors.
All of our drivers and office staff are employees of Norco Delivery Services. Many courier companies hire independent contractors who are usually not covered by workers compensation and can not be bonded.
Our drivers are proven professionals with a vested interest in the success of each delivery.
Norco drivers are required to look professional in appearance at all times. A Norco issued shirt and corporate ID brand our drivers with a seal of excellence from California’s oldest and largest courier company.
Additionally, we employ no independent contractors. All of our drivers are employees of Norco Delivery Services.
We possess one of the most knowledgeable staffs in the business. Our drivers, dispatchers and administrators are highly trained and operate according to our principles of exceptional service and integrity.
To be eligible for a driving position at Norco Delivery Services a driver candidate must have a clean driving record. There cannot be more than one point on their driving record for them to be considered.
We go to great lengths to ensure our drivers are as experienced as possible. Once an individual has been hired they must complete an orientation program that encompasses safe driving, policy and procedure lessons. Additionally, they are assigned a Route Supervisor who will accompany them as their “on the job” trainer.
When the driver completes the training program they are tested on what they have learned in the classroom setting as well as a “Safety in Driving” test administered by the Route Supervisor.
We believe communication is imperative in providing excellent service to our customers. Norco Delivery Services offers 24 hour a day and 7 day a week support services, live dispatch assistance and manifest tracking.
We utilize two-way radios, pagers and/or Nextel phones with our drivers. The two-way radios function regardless of power shortages, allowing the drivers to stay in communication with drivers that can be dispatched to aid in any situation that may be needed.
In addition, Norco Delivery Services realizes that emergency situations can happen at any time. We have an established working business continuity plan which is set to stay in full communication with all drivers, keep our fleet fully operable, and complete all of our contractual agreements to the best of our abilities.

We have used this plan successfully over the past two decades through riots, earthquakes, floods and fires.
Yes, all of our office staff and drivers are employees of Norco Delivery Services, are bonded and covered under workers compensation. We do NOT employ Independent Contractors.
There are risks and potential liabilities you could assume with a carrier that does use Independent Contractors.

If an IC gets injured while making a delivery, the shipper could be exposed to a financial risk.

If a shipment is stolen and or lost by the IC, the shipment might not be insured under the carrier’s policy. Norco also carries a $1 million crime policy and cargo/reconstruction policy, something that I/C’s typically can’t provide due to the high premium cost.

Carriers are not allowed to instruct IC drivers on how to structure their routes, such as sequence of delivery, thus effecting on-time completion.

IC’s can outsource their work to any individual without the consent of the carrier. For example, they could give a job to their best friend’s hairdresser’s neighbor to deliver. All shipments are sensitive; especially ones subject to identity theft, so you want to know who is handling the package.

IC’s are not exclusive to the carrier that the shipper has engaged. As such, a difficult delivery from one carrier could case a delay in the shipper’s package.

Coverage is limited to only the liability of the IC’s insurance policy, which could be the minimum required amount by the State vs. the more robust $10 million coverage that Norco carries. If an accident or injury occurs that is more than the coverage of IC’s policy, the shipper might be sued by the injured party.
